Hiking the North GA Mountains

If I can’t be at the ocean, take me to the mountains.. preferably hiking. It’s one of my favorite things to do (on dry land anyway). My husband isn’t a fan until we reach the peak and see the reward of our hard work. Living in the Atlanta area, we’re only a few hours from the Blue Ridge mountains. This past weekend we spent our Saturday driving to Cleveland, GA (Brianna’s hometown) and hiking Mount Yonah. The hike to the top of Mt. Yonah is a 4.2 mile round trip and is rated difficult on AllTrails. We’re sort-of “in shape” and didn’t struggle until the last half mile or so. The hike is very rocky and has a few upslope climbing sections but overall not extremely challenging. Once you reach the top there are multiple flat overlook areas to take in the views. This hike is also dog friendly so long as your pets are leashed. Don’t forget to bring water for yourselves and your pups!
