Canyonlands National Park, Utah

Canyonlands National Park was #6 on our trip and is the largest National Park in Utah. This park was my husbands favorite park that we visited. You enter the park from a long highway with nothing but livestock around. Island in the Sky was the first place we visited. This is a nice overlook of the canyon and you can see the many 4×4 trails in the valleys below. We also visited the Mesa Arch accessible by a .5 mile hike in. This is a popular sunset and sunrise hike for many visitors. It was relatively crowded when we arrived so we waited a few minutes to capture a few photos. After the Mesa Arch, we continued our drive to the top of the park on the scenic route. The scenic route in this park is about 20 miles long. Once you reach the end of the scenic road you’ll reach the Grand View Point overlook. From the outlook you can see the La Sal mountain range in the distance. We were able to walk along the edge of the canyon and get much closer to the edge than any other park. We enjoyed this park because of how large it was and how much free rein we had. We’d like to come back and do the off-road driving routes but we had a Nissan Sentra so we weren’t able to do any off-roading on this trip. Overall, we enjoyed this park and would come back!
