Cuyahoga Valley National Park, Ohio

#8 on our National Park tour! Cuyahoga Valley was a pleasant surprise for a few reasons, one of them being the easy scenic drive through the park (that’s RV friendly!). We were also surprised to see so many cyclists in the park but there are many paved and off-road trails if you love to cycle. If you purchase tickets ahead of time, you can ride the Cuyahoga Valley Scenic Railroad. The train ride takes you through the park so you can sit back and enjoy the views without much effort. We didn’t pre-book tickets so we just drove around in our RV. We had plans for the afternoon and didn’t have time to do any hikes but Brandywine falls is the most popular hike in the park. Although we didn’t do it, the photos look beautiful and it’s an easy 1-2 hour hike. We spent the day driving through the park on Riverview Road and stopping at different sections of the park to explore. There are a few sections of the park that seem like they may be residential so always be sure that you’re using the park map to stay on course. Also be aware that there is no camping or overnight parking allowed in the park so you will have to look for local accommodations if you are traveling here specifically for the park. Our first stop was at the Everett covered bridge where we stretched our legs for a bit and climbed under the bridge to get in the water. On the way out, we stopped in the town of Peninsula to eat at the Winking Lizard (they actually have a pet lizard inside) and ordered a plate of wings. The town was very cute and had an outdoor concert going on. There are also a few beautiful bridges in the park that we stopped at for pictures. Overall, it was a quick nice stop as we passed through Ohio. I don’t think that we’ll ever come back unless we’re in the area, but if we do I’d like to hike the Brandywine Falls trail and do some cycling along the river.
